The Australian Islamic Centre (AIC) represents a unique Islamic environment that integrates Australian values with the beauty of Islam. We’ve undergone quite the transformation over the years. From being a community centre that mainly serviced the local Muslim community in Newport and its surrounds, to becoming a global architectural icon that has attracted tourists to our great state from all over the world. At our core however, we’re still that same local community centre but now with a much larger audience to embrace. AIC has grown from being a place of worship to being a full-fledged centre with services that cater to many of the community’s needs.
Serving the community, working in partnership
Our partnerships with Hobson Bay City Council, Victorian Government, Victorian Police, Fire Rescue Victoria, Western Health and many others have helped contribute towards improvements in education, health provision, environment, and community cohesion.
We offer wide range of services from our complex. In addition to the daily prayers, we have: advice and counselling; education for children and adults; services related to birth, marriage and death; and many more.
